Hello friends! I'm Anaika, but you can call me Anya. I'm a proud Afro-Latina from the Dominican Republic, a wife, and a mom. My favorite genres are romance and fantasy, and my go-to coffee is café con leche.
I've been a reader since I first learned English, but it was after becoming a mom that I rediscovered my love for books as a way to unplug. The more I read, the more I remembered why I fell in love with reading in the first place.
When I moved to Tennessee, I faced a deep sense of culture shock and displacement. I searched for a community but often felt lost. I realized that the community I was seeking was often portrayed as something to fear by the media—yet those individuals were just like me. They spoke a different language, looked different, and came from other parts of the world. Tired of seeing us misrepresented, I saw a need for resources in my area and decided to create one. Y asi, Mis Amores was born.
At Mis Amores, my mission is to offer a safe haven for the Latinx community and all migrants, providing a welcoming space filled with cafecito and romance books.
